Position: Sr. Accountant Recommended Salary: $50,000-$55,000

This
position performs a variety of general accounting functions within the
Accounting Department. Primary
responsibilities will be in the area of monitoring expenditures and cash
receipts and processing month-end accounting transactions to ensure the timely
and accurate processing of monthly journal entries to the general ledger.
In this position you will be responsible for the
following duties:
Analyze
all general ledger accounts. Assist the
manager in the preparation of the monthly trial balance. Assist manager of accounting with month/year-end
reconciliations and preparation of closing journal entries. Assist in the preparation of work papers for
annual audit. Prepare monthly Temporary Assistance for Needy
Families (TANF) invoice. Prepare
budget to actual expenditures analysis. Perform
monthly reconciliation of the CareerLink/ Integrated Center general ledger
accounts and prepare corresponding journal entries. Analyze PACareerLink/Integrated Center
operating accounts on a monthly basis for accuracy and consistency. Analyze Philadelphia Works operating expense accounts on a monthly basis
for consistency and accuracy; perform adjusting entries when necessary. Record cash receipts
and make daily bank deposits. Record
monthly account receivable entry for Philadelphia Works operations, CareerLink/Integrated
Center and miscellaneous accounts. Review and maintain Philadelphia Works draw
schedule. Compare draw schedule to the general ledger cash
account, prepare adjusting journal entries as necessary. Perform monthly bank reconciliations. Prepare monthly payroll journal entry. Act as backup to the Payroll Administrator in
the processing of semi-monthly payroll.
Bachelor’s
Degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Finance
or Accounting with a minimum of 4 years advanced level accounting or auditing
experience.
MIP
experience required. Experience in a non-profit accounting environment for
Federal/State, Grants and Contracts preferred.
Or, any combination of education and experience
determined to be acceptable by the Human Resources Department.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles,
practices and procedures.

Ability to prepare complex and detailed
analysis of financial data.
·
Ability to meet deadlines.
·
Proficient in the use of electronic
spreadsheets and computerized accounting systems.
·
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal
skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff,
subcontractors, vendors, and government agencies.

Strong
attention to details and good organizational skills.
