Webinar - The Long Road Back: Resources for Women Veterans

The Long Road Back: Resources for Women Veterans

Date: Thursday, March 28, 2013
Time: 2:00pm - 3:30pm (Central Time)

The Battered Women's Justice Project (BWJP) is pleased to announce a webinar on resources for women veterans. Women make up 15% of the active duty military population and 18% of the National Guard and Reserves. Women have deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan frequently and multiple times over the past decade. Women veterans are experiencing many challenges when returning from the war zones and reintegrating into the civilian world. Some women veterans are survivors of military sexual trauma. Some are intimate partner violence survivors or may still be in abusive relationships. Some had trauma histories before entering the military. In addition, some women veterans are dealing with physical injuries and/or co-occurring conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, substance abuse, and depression, etc. Some are unemployed and homeless. Webinar speakers will discuss programs and services for women veterans provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), veterans service organizations, the Business and Professional Women's Foundation, and advocacy groups. A woman veteran will share her personal experience finding and accessing programs and services.
A webinar is an on-line seminar and requires access to the internet to connect.
