We are seeking leaders for schools opening August 2013 in Newark, New Jersey.

SCHOOL LEADER POSITION OVERVIEW
  • Leads and develops a team that will prepare our students for success  in college, work, and life.
  • Sets a powerful vision for achievement and creates a culture of high expectations and no excuses.
  • Implements the school’s mission and model through dynamic, persistent, and effective leadership and management of all stakeholders (including faculty, staff, students, parents, and the community).
  • Manages and oversees school site functions, including all aspects of the instructional program, school environment, and the operational and fiscal health of the school.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implements a high-quality, college-preparatory blended learning program that promotes mastery, critical thinking, and continuous growth.
  • Maintains school-wide focus on ambitious achievement goals for all students.
  • Uses data to inform practice and drive decision-making and instruction at the school.
  • Hires, leads, and manages a collaborative school team to deliver exceptional results.
  • Develops and supports teachers through training, observation, feedback, and coaching.
  • Promotes a culture of continuous improvement amongst the faculty and staff.
  • Fosters a safe and welcoming school climate where students and adults can thrive.
  • Builds positive relationships with all stakeholders, including parents and the community.
  • Allocates school resources effectively to support learning goals.
  • Establishes effective systems for school operations.
  • Implements quality school routines to support and improve student achievement.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Believes all students can achieve at the highest levels with no excuses.
  • Tireless commitment to all students’ academic success and personal development.
  • Holds oneself accountable for school performance results.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Affinity for technology and comfort with learning new tools and applications.
  • Able to evaluate instructional effectiveness and provide appropriate support.
  • Adept at analyzing data to improve student and staff achievement.
  • Excellent judgment in decision-making.
  • Clear and compelling communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effectively inspires and develops instructional and non-instructional staff.
  • Leadership experience with demonstrated exemplary results.
  • Experience working with diverse students and communities.
  • Master’s Degree in Education and/or Administration; 3-5+ years teaching experience.
  • Licensure in Educational Leadership or eligible for NJ certification.
