Job Summary:  Basic purpose or primary function of the job

This position requires a strong working knowledge of all health and welfare plan regulations and processing as they need to understand regulations, eligibility, plan design, funding, etc. in order to support client groups (Employees, Business Partners and vendors) when communicating business needs.
 
The Benefits Analyst works closely with CHOP’s 3rd party Benefits Administrators, to ensure systems are functioning properly and processes are being followed.   Responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of electronic files to vendors as well the processing of electronic files into CHOP’s HRIS system.   Seeks resolution when system issues occur and provides follow-up with management and employees. Acts as a primary liaison with external and internal clients to resolve and troubleshoot systems/file/customer service issues. 
 
Is responsible for benefits analysis as well as interpreting policy for managers and making recommendations on changes in process.   This position requires a strong ability to compile data from various systems and prepare summaries or recommendations based on data.
 
Strong verbal communication skills required in order to facilitate meeting and/or presentations.
 
The position requires expertise in the areas of time management, organizational communications, and working in a flexible environment to meet deadlines.  
 
This position will also be responsible for the completing  special projects (ex:  Comprehensive Benefit Statement, Executive Benefit Communication, Orientation, Audit Contact for External Audit and Internal Audit),  supporting Open Enrollment planning and related activities including testing web functionality and file transmissions for various benefits. 
 
Project work could also involve system audits, special reporting, creating training or communications related to benefits. 
 
Trains or mentors Benefit Specialists or Senior Benefit Specialists on complex issues.

·         Subject Matter Resources on all benefits (Health and Welfare) for Benefits team, HR Business Partners and Hospital Staff including Business Leaders
·         Maybe responsible for facilitating meetings and presentations such as Orientations related to benefits and FMLA.
·         Project Management Execution is a significant portion of the job which may include developing project plan, communication plan and testing plan and execute on visible, hospital wide initiatives. 
·         May be responsible for  providing  high level FMLA analysis to leadership team
·         Act as liaison with Benefit Vendors, managing day to day processing issues to ensure smooth delivery of Benefits to our employees but also other vendors.  This includes ensuring that files are being sent to vendors in appropriate format and according to appropriate schedule
·         Validate Benefit files – to ensure all information is accurate, work with HRIS/vendor to fix any information that needs to be corrected
·         Assist with Open Enrollment plan design/rates with vendor, lead role for testing website for accurate information/calculations, attendance at open enrollment fairs, etc
All CHOP employees who work in a patient building or who provide patient care are required to receive an annual influenza vaccine unless they are granted a medical or religious exemption.

Required Education and Experience Minimum education required; cite years and type of experience.

College degree preferred.
Minimum of 4-7 years of experience in benefits or related field

·         Familiarity with ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, DOL, and Pension IRS regulations.

·         Knowledge of benefits plans, include eligibility requirements and plan content and design

·         Extensive experience working with HR systems, specifically Lawson, and Business Objects and Access
·         Advanced Level PC skills, Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint , and Microsoft Access

·         Ability to perform work that is routine and strong attention to details

·         Knowledge of HR systems and functionality.

·         Ability to work in cross-functional teams.

·         Excellent project management, customer service, organization, and time management skills
