YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties Assistant Aquatics Director –  Riverfront, NJ Branch
 
The Assistant Aquatics Director is responsible for the development, administration, implementation and ongoing evaluation of all related aquatic staff and programs for the Riverfront, NJ Branch.

Description:
Major Functions:
  • Will assist the AD with the development, control and responsibility of department budgets.
  • Manage all functions of the Riverfront Aquatics Department including but not limited to: aquatic safety, swim lessons, lifeguarding, and swim team, specialty and water exercise classes, pool rentals
  • Regularly meet with Aquatics Director to evaluate aquatic programs and services.
  • Assess and ensure the inclusion of YMCA mission and values in all program areas.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new aquatic programs as needed.
  • Ensure all YMCA policies & procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and appraise required staff for the aquatics department and assist all staff in meeting their developmental needs.
  • Conduct bi-annual performance evaluations of all aquatic staff in Riverfront..
  • Foster staff motivation, recognition, and teamwork.
  • Plan, conduct, and document monthly staff meetings, focusing on safety, review of established policies and procedures, and customer service.
  • Adhere to all hiring and personnel procedures, including processing of all documentation by established deadlines.
  • Recruit, train and supervise all aquatic program volunteers in Riverfront.
  • Communicate to ensure that volunteers understand, display and foster YMCA values.
  • Actively participate in Branch Special Events as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in management meetings.
  • Represent the Branch as needed in the community through various groups, organizations, coalitions etc.
  • Assist in the maintenance of clean, attractive, safe, and well-repaired facilities.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Baccalaureate degree in related field.
  • Current Lifeguard certification (YMCA of the USA or Red Cross). Lifeguard Trainer certification preferred.
  • Current or obtain within 6 month of employment-YMCA of the USA Swim lesson Instructor certification [Fundamentals; Youth & Adult; Parent-Child / Preschool] or Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (YMCA certification within 6 months).
  • Significant swim instruction, lifeguard and supervisory experience
  • You will be asked to perform a swim test
  • This is a hands-on position; you will be not only supervising staff but assisting them as needed.
 
Preferred:
  • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification.
  • First Aid for the Public Safety Personnel certification.
  • Current AED and First Aid certification and O2 certification.
  • YMCA of the USA Pool Operator on Location (POOL) or equivalent preferred.
  • YMCA experience preferred
Salary Details: $30,000 - $32,000
The compensation for this position is competitive and will be commensurate with experience. A comprehensive medical, vision and dental benefits package applies along with an 8% retirement package, and generous vacation allowance.
