Position Summary:Provides support in the function of training and staff development through a variety of administrative and technical responsibilities. Responsible for day-to-day upkeep of employee training webpage, portal and learning management system (currently Blackboard), adding and editing content, tracking registration of online and live modules, certifying attendance or module completion, and other record-keeping duties. Promotes training events and online modules. Conducts preliminary research of vendors and other subject-matter resources such as facilitators and presenters. Assists in creating and producing training materials. Has primary responsibility for planning Human Resources Department-sponsored events, such as Employee Recognition Dinner, Retiree Picnic, and others. Serves as back-up for the HR Assistant at the front desk.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the maintenance of the learning management system and related web and portal content for training and staff development. Assist in the creation and maintenance of training materials. Maintain an inventory of physical materials. Maintain and update training schedule.
  • Create and post announcements and other communication for training events and online modules; manage registration and completion credit; and conduct evaluations for training and development events, programs, modules and other related activities.
  • Provide back-up support to HR front desk reception area, serving as secondary support to persons who contact the department via phone, email, voice mail or in-person, and supervision of student workers.
  • Primary responsibility for room reservations, set-up, technical equipment, catering and preparation of materials for stand-up training and development sessions. Maintain training and development records and produce basic reports on offerings, attendance, completion rates for required training, etc.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of HR department-sponsored events such as the Staff Recognition Dinner, Retiree Picnic, and Christmas gift-giving.
  • Conduct first-level research on vendors, speakers, facilitators and other resources to either supplement existing programs or to respond to requests for individual/department needs across campus.
  • Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Provide secondary back-up support and assistance as needed for other areas in HR.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in communication, instructional technologies, information technologies, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of a learning management system.
  • Ability to update webpages. Either prior experience in or ability to learn basic maintenance of a portal (ability to learn assesed on breadth of knowledge of other technologies);
  • Well-developed skills in Microsoft Office, presentation programs (e.g. Prezi, SlideRocket, PowerPoint), and online survey tools, such as Survey Monkey. Must be able to learn and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to use a variety of tools to research vendors, speakers, presenters and other resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to create written and graphic materials;
  • Demonstrated skill at creating and writing announcements, promotions and other communications;
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work independently, a self-starter, proactive in identifying problems and solutions;
  • Strong customer-service skills, including the ability to engage people at all levels;
  • Ability to form partnerships and work collaboratively across campus;
  • Prefer creative or artistic skills, especially in writing, graphics and slide/video presentation aesthetics;
  • Ability to produce reports and provide basic analyses of results;
  • Ability to organize materials and records.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree or certification from relevant vocational, business or associate’s program strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Blackboard.
  • Creative or artistic skills, especially in writing, graphics and slide/video presentation aesthetics.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
  • Ability to work at a computer station.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to cover a reception desk.
  • Ability to travel to other buildings on campus.
