JOB DESCRIPTION


TITLE:                                                                             Children’s Case Manager
WORK LOCATION:                                                  Safe House
REPORTS TO:                                                             Shelter Manager
FLSA CLASSIFICATION:                                        Non-Exempt/Professional
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:                  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIRED:                   Knowledge of child development, parenting education and the social service system, skilled in case management and advocacy, strong counseling skills, ability to work independently and as a team player, ability to work with diverse populations and in a multi-disciplinary setting.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:                                  Minimum one (1) year’s experience in social services providing direct services to children.
PREFERENCES, IF ANY:                                       Knowledge of domestic violence issues, experience working in a residential setting, computer skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Conduct intakes for children residing in the Safe House.
  • Conduct needs assessments for Safe House children; developing family service plans and monitor and revise those plans as needed.
  • Provide Safe House children with individual crisis and supportive counseling.
  • Provide individual supportive counseling to children of service center clients as needed and as time permits.
  • Plan and coordinate free and enrichment play opportunities for Safe House children.
  • Facilitate support group(s) for Safe House children.
  • Co-facilitate Safe House Mom and Kids support groups.
  • Provide parenting education as needed.
  • Provide case management services for shelter children, advocating as necessary with other service providers.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with children’s service providers in the county.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of Safe House playroom.
  • Provide coverage for the Shelter, including coverage for the agency’s 24-hour hotline as needed.
  • Train and supervise Safe House Children’s Volunteers.
  • Track statistics and outcome measures for Safe House Children’s program.
  • Assist Community Educator/Trainer in providing community education within local schools as time permits.
  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate client records.

OTHER DUTIES:
  • Submit daily service logs and bi-weekly time sheets.
  • Participate in staff meetings and in-service training as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
