PA CareerLink® Newsletter
November 2015
Greetings!
Welcome to the November edition of the PA CareerLink® Connection. Once again, the staff at PA CareerLink® is happy to keep you informed of the wealth of events and services at our locations in Delaware County. We hope you find this information helpful while you continue, and ultimately succeed, in your job search.

Although holiday seasonal employment usually peaks in late September and early October, there is often a last minute barrage of seasonal job openings available in November due to positions left unfilled, or unaccounted-for labor needs. Since hiring generally falls off a bit again until the new year begins, if you're eager to get back in the workforce, it's often a good idea to try for a last minute holiday opening--and don't forget that making a good impression can often lead a permanent position in the new year!

PA CareerLink® offers a wide variety of workshops for jobseekers, at locations in Chester and Media, at no cost to you. Call us or come visit to learn more.

Whether you're looking for some extra work for the holidays or you're ready to start a new career, we have several employers who are actively looking for a few good workers:

 Job Search Etiquette
Of all the intangibles that enter into the job search process, "etiquette"--or, if you prefer, "manners"--is one of those tricky concepts that is easier to judge in some situations than others. Most job search etiquette isn't too hard to figure out--overall, just being polite and respectful will do. Still, there are some job specific situations where a little guidance might be helpful. See "10 Tips for Job-Hunting Etiquette" here.

Although most people would agree that answering a cell phone at a job interview is an absolute DON'T--what if it's buzzing away in your purse or pocket? Along with examiner.com, most of us agree that "Cell phones and job interviews don't mix." (Read the articlehere.)Still, as new technologies arise, there will continue to be grey areas, for the simple reason that gadgets advance more quickly than the social conventions regarding their use. When in doubt, play it safe. Leave the gadgets home or turn them off.
