It's time to get your plate in shape because it's National Nutrition Month. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recommends taking time this month to pay attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. The New Shape of Nutrition
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently changed the Food Guide, better known as the Food Pyramid, for the third time in the past three decades. On June 2nd, First Lady Michelle Obama and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the MyPlate Food Guide, which, like the prior food pyramid, contains five major food groups. Instead of the pyramid format, the food groups are placed proportionately (and colorfully) on a plate. Learn more here!
