Learning Coach
Position Overview
Acts as a learning coach to lower literacy adults entering
into College and Career Readiness classes including GED, pre-nursing, workforce
development, and other refresher classes.
Sets learners up in the Learning Management System (LMS) and provides
direction and assistance for completing online assignments. This position is part of a new initiative
called myPLACE through the Mayor’s Commission on Literacy (MCOL) and is grant
funded. The anticipated start date is
3/24/2014 and is expected to end on 6/27/2014.
There is a possibility of the position continuing beyond that time.
Responsibilities - The
Learning Coach has these responsibilities:

Assist
learners with myPLACE Introduction to Learning and Careers activities
including: logging on, completing assignments, and submitting assignments
·
Assist
online reading and math learners with technology (and perhaps learning) such as
navigating the web and starting a computer
·
Track
and monitor learner attendance via excel spreadsheet
·
Input
information into ASAP student information system (SIS)
·
Grade
assignments on Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
·
Communicate
with other myPLACE staff on learner progress
Hours: 12-15
hours per week
Monday and Tuesday -5:00-9:00 or 4:30 to 8:30
Other hours are flexible: Preferably Friday, 1:00-5:00
(Possibly Saturday, 8:30-3:00)
- BA/BS Degree (or equivalent), preferably in
related field such as education, social work, or HR.
- Computer knowledge including Internet, Word,
EXCEL, PPT; Publisher a plus)
- Experience as a career or educational advisement,
testing
- Experience or comfort with Learning Management
and Student Information Systems
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
a must
- Health industry a strong plus.
