TEEN GIRLS URGED TO REGISTER FOR SUMMER PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT &
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS BY EVOULUER HOUSE
Free, 8-week programs at Center City’s Peirce College available for ages 13-18

(PHILADELPHIA) – In an era when teen girls idolize reality TV stars and scantily clad music artists, the non-profit Evoluer House is offering two far more positive development workshops for area teen girls.

The Evoluer Personal Development Workshop and the Evoluer Youth Workforce Development Program take place July 28 - August 28, at Peirce College, 1420 Pine St. Open to girls aged 13 to 18, the programs are free, or require a small fee for applicants who do not meet income guidelines.

“This is great opportunity for urban teen girls to learn in a college setting and to grow personally and professionally toward being our city's and our nation's next generation of female leaders,” offered Cheryl Ann Wadlington, executive director for Evoluer House. “As companies evolve, women will lead the way. We’re providing programs designed to equip our students with the tools they will need to build bright and bold futures.”
Taught by area youth development and education professionals, Evoluer’s Personal Development Workshop seeks to inspire a positive self-image and ambition in girls through an eight-week, reality-based learning experience.

Topics include “Loving the Skin You’re In,” “Your Life, Your Goals,” financial literacy, internet safety and etiquette.

Meanwhile, the Youth Workforce Development program focuses on the personal, resume-writing and communication skills girls need to land a job, keep a job, and advance in their lives and careers.

Evoluer House was started in 2004 with a goal of “motivating girls for character and excellence.” It targets girls of color in the Philadelphia area who are experiencing a unique set of social and emotional challenges and barriers. Evoluer House recently celebrated the milestone of having graduated 800 girls from its program.

This summer’s programs are funded in part by the generous contributions of BNY Mellon, DermHA, Health Partners Foundation, Peirce College, The Philadelphia Chapter of Chums Inc., and Evoluer House supporters.

To register, interested applicants should email Tiffany Jackson at tiffany@evoluerhouse.orgor info@evoluerhouse.org. For additional information, go to www.evoluerhouse.org or call 215-592-8988.
