Nursing Home Costs Going Up A just-released study shows the cost of nursing homes has steadily increased in recent years. The cost of a private nursing home room is now $83,950 per year – an increase of more than $16,000 from just five years ago. Nursing home costs are going up about 4.5% each year. The Genworth Cost of Care Survey 2013 says that costs of home care, however, have remained relatively flat and are not increasing anywhere near as fast as nursing home costs.
