Manager, Community Outreach and Partnerships
Background
Founded in 1972, PEC is a comprehensive homeless services provider and experienced nonprofit community development agency based in West Philadelphia. The agency employs nearly 100 staff to serve its community and constituents through social services, counseling, case management, commercial corridor revitalization, community organizing, and quality affordable housing. PEC is looking for dynamic, motivated, and talented individuals to join its team and help lay the foundation for the agency’s next phase of growth.
Qualifications
 Bachelor’s Degree in social work, urban planning or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
 Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally
 Sensitivity to, and experience with urban and low income populations
 Proficiency with MS office programs: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Reports to: VP, Community, Economic and Real Estate Development
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this position include: organizing and facilitating community outreach activities, including event planning, actively representing PEC in various committees or organizational meetings affiliated with the community, managing external partnerships and small projects, and supporting the Community Development Corporation (CDC) in development-related activities such as organizing neighborhood participation, feedback, and support.
Outreach
 Maintain regular contact and attend community meetings with all existing community and neighborhood groups, including but not limited to, West Powelton Concerned Community Council, Saunders Park Neighbors, HUB Coalition, MASCO, 16th Police District Advocacy Committee, UPenn First Thursday meetings and others.
 Ensure that Civic Groups and others interested are being informed of PEC activities, making presentations as needed.
 Act as a conduit of information for community members, sharing new information on services available for PEC and neighborhood residents, including child care, utility emergencies, energy efficiency, educational and financial literacy, and other services needed by community members.
 Assist with publicity/communication for all CDC events.
 Assist Commercial Corridor Manager with clean-up efforts, including supervision of volunteers. Assure at least two clean-up activities are conducted each year within the community.
 Assist Commercial Corridor Manager with outreach along Lancaster Avenue.
 Coordinate quarterly financial literacy seminars.
 Coordinate annual Jazz Festival.
 Oversee Community Connectors.

Planning and Development Duties
 Assist and support CDC with project management tasks such as information dissemination and securing community input and support on development projects such as Façade Projects, Homeownership Initiatives, Supportive Housing, and Facility Development.
 Work with CDC on planning activities such as Lancaster Avenue Market Study, assisting with property inventories and commercial & residential surveys.
 Oversee small projects in partnership with external partners such as a) the skateboard project; b) food sustainability, including UNI, PUFFA, and West Philadelphia Fresh Food Hub.
 Create and facilitate neighborhood plan steering committee.
 Host quarterly neighborhood-wide information sharing meetings.
